Ezekiel 31:9 - 10  I made it (Assyria) beautiful in the mass of its branches, and all the trees of Eden envied it, that were in the garden of God.  Therefore thus says the Lord God; Because it towered high and set its top among the clouds, and its heart was proud of its height,.....

As we are studying the book of Ezekiel in Bible study right now, we came upon this verse and it was pointed out that in this passage God says He is the one who made Assyria have such a great height, then He goes on to mention that Assyria was proud of its height.  The rest of the story is God destroyed them.

We are not much different.  On one hand we talk about how God has endowed us with certain gifts, and then we take those very gifts and turn them into things that make us proud - as if we made them for ourselves.

It would behoove us to remember all good gifts come from God, which translates into - God gets the glory.
