Luke 1:38  (TEV)  "I am the Lord's servant," said Mary; "may it happen to me as you have said."  And the angel left her.

We know this story well.   What a beautiful example of obedience Mary gives us.  We smile at the wonder of the Christmas story and thank God for the gift of Jesus.  But let's look a bit closer at Mary just now.  Her decision to accept God's plan was costly.  Mary risked her very life to embrace the will of God in her life, and did so without any hesitation.  Mary identified herself as "the Lord's servant".   Wow.    Now fast forward several hundred years and picture modern woman in that same equation.  Are we willing to throw everything away for the opportunity to call ourselves "the Lords' servant"?  Maybe that is not what God is asking you to do.    Maybe He is just asking for a bit of your attention; maybe just a few moments of your time each day.   Before we come to the manger this year, let's pray that God will reveal to us how we can serve Him this Christmas and during the New Year.
