Luke 12:15b "for one's life does not consist in the
abundance of his possessions."
Boy, try to tell that to today's society!
One just needs to watch a little
television to see in the commercials, that our wealth defines us.
And it promises several things:
bring us joy, give our lives new meaning, make us feel complete, pay for
our mistakes, bring us our heart's desire, solve our problems, and make us
whole again.
This all sounds great, but did you notice
that wealth makes the same promises as Jesus makes? That is the problem.
Wealth can disguise itself as our savior. OUCH!
Jesus doesn't have a problem with the
wealthy, but sometimes the wealthy has a problem with Jesus!
